  1. Jacket material: PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material is used. The PVC jacket has excellent mechanical strength, with a tensile strength greater than 12MPa and an elongation at break greater than 150%, which can withstand external pressure, tensile force during underground laying, and friction from hard objects such as stones in the soil, effectively protecting the internal conductor and insulation layer. At the same time, PVC material has good moisture resistance, with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, which can block underground moisture from entering the cable, and has certain chemical corrosion resistance, further enhancing the adaptability of the cable in complex underground environments.

  1. Style design: The cable is cylindrical in overall shape, with a black PVC jacket, and the surface is smooth and flat without obvious protrusions, depressions or scratches. This design is not only convenient for laying in underground pipes, reducing frictional resistance, but also enables the cable to be in full contact with the soil when directly buried, which is conducive to heat dissipation. The two ends of the cable are usually sealed to prevent moisture and impurities from entering. (4) Production Process

The production process of the 600V 4/0 AWG (500 MCM) copper power cable is complex and rigorous, and each process is strictly controlled to ensure product quality.
  1. Conductor stranding: First, high-purity electrolytic copper is processed into fine copper wires with a diameter of about 0.4mm. In the stranding process, multiple copper wires are stranded together according to a specific stranding pitch (about 16-20 times the outer diameter of the conductor). During the stranding process, the untwisting stranding technology is adopted to ensure that each copper wire is stressed evenly, avoiding uneven conductor resistance caused by improper stranding. After stranding, the conductor is annealed by heating it to 300-400°C and keeping it warm for a period of time to eliminate internal stress generated during the stranding process and improve the flexibility and conductivity of the conductor.

  1. XLPE insulation layer extrusion: After the conductor is pretreated (such as cleaning and drying), it enters the XLPE insulation layer extrusion process. XLPE granular raw materials are added to the extruder and heated to 120-150°C in the extruder to melt them. The molten XLPE material is evenly coated on the surface of the conductor through a die to form an insulation layer with a thickness of about 2.0mm. During the extrusion process, the extrusion temperature, speed and pressure are strictly controlled to ensure that the insulation layer has uniform thickness, a smooth surface, is closely combined with the conductor, and has no defects such as bubbles and pinholes. After extrusion, the insulation layer is cross-linked by means of warm water cross-linking or steam cross-linking to form a three-dimensional network structure of XLPE molecules, enhancing its heat resistance and mechanical properties.

  1. Shielding layer wrapping (some models): For some cables that require shielding performance, a layer of semi-conductive shielding tape is wrapped outside the insulation layer. The shielding tape is made of semi-conductive material, which can eliminate the air gap between the insulation layer and the jacket, reduce the local electric field strength, and improve the insulation reliability of the cable. During the wrapping process, the overlap rate of the shielding tape should be ensured to be between 15% and 20% to ensure the continuity of the shielding effect.

  1. PVC jacket extrusion: The PVC jacket is extruded outside the insulation layer (or shielding layer). PVC granules are added to another extruder and heated to 160-180°C to melt them. The molten PVC material is coated outside the insulation layer through a die to form a jacket with a thickness of about 2.5mm. During the extrusion process, various parameters are also controlled to ensure that the jacket has uniform thickness, a flat surface, is closely combined with the internal structure, and has no cracks, depressions and other problems. After extrusion, the cable is cooled to make the jacket solidify and form quickly.

  1. Finished product inspection: The produced cables undergo a series of strict inspections. Electrical performance testing includes insulation resistance testing, withstand voltage testing and partial discharge testing. The insulation resistance test uses a 5000V megohmmeter, requiring the insulation resistance value to be not less than 1000MΩ; the withstand voltage test applies 2500V AC voltage to both ends of the cable for 5 minutes without breakdown; the partial discharge test requires that the partial discharge amount is not more than 10pC under 1.73 times the rated voltage. Mechanical performance testing includes tensile strength and elongation at break tests to ensure that the mechanical properties of the jacket and insulation layer meet the standards. In addition, the appearance, size, conductor resistance, etc. of the cable will also be inspected. Only cables that meet all indicators can leave the factory.

(1) Packaging

For export orders, sea transportation is usually adopted. Before sea transportation, the cable is strictly moisture-proof packaged. The outside of the wooden reel is wrapped with multiple layers of waterproof cloth, and the two ends of the cable are equipped with sealing covers to prevent seawater and moisture from entering. When loading into containers, the space should be reasonably arranged to avoid the cable being squeezed. At the same time, to cope with possible severe weather during sea transportation, the containers will also be reinforced to ensure the safety of the goods.
During the transportation process, special personnel are arranged to track and monitor the goods, and the location and transportation status of the goods are grasped in real time through the logistics information system.
